NEWPORT, R.I. – Recent Salve Regina University graduate Kaitlyn Birrell (Hope, R.I.) has been announced as the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) nominee for the NCAA Woman of the Year.

NEWPORT, R.I. – Salve Regina University has landed 31 student-athletes on the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) 2012-13 Winter/Spring Academic All-Conference Team, announced Friday, June 7 by Commissioner Gregg M. Kaye.

NEWPORT, R.I. – The Salve Regina University student-athletes came out in full force last Saturday, April 13, to wrap up national Division III week as athletes from all of the university's teams not in competition volunteered at Special Olympics held at Gaudet Field in partnership with Special Olympics R.I., East Bay Games.

WELLESLEY, Mass. - Salve Regina University senior Kaitlyn Birrell (Hope, R.I.) scored a first-half basket to become the 11th player in program history to reach the 1,000-point milestone. Birrell added another first-half basket but the Seahawks were knocked out of the ECAC Division III New England Women's Basketball Championships by a 54-42 score against Wellesley College.

Harden earned the rookie of the week award five times during the season and ended as the coaches' pick for Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Rookie of the Year.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - After reaching the title game, the Commonwealth Coast Conference honors Salve Regina University women's basketball freshman guard Meaghan Harden (Sandwich, Mass.) with its Rookie of the Week award.

Three seniors, three juniors, three sophomores, and two freshmen will compete for Salve Regina women's basketball in the 2013 ECAC Division III New England Women’s Basketball Championship.

BIDDEFORD, Maine - Seahawk senior Kaitlyn Birrell (Hope, R.I.) scored a game-high 16 points, leaving her two shy of 1,000 career points, and the Salve Regina University women's basketball team also came up short in its second-half comeback, falling to top-seeded University of New England, 69-63, in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship Game.

Harden scored a career-high 30 points, including 10-for-10 from the free-throw line in Thursday's semifinal.

NEWPORT, R.I. - Two-time defending champions Salve Regina University women's basketball enters the 2013 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championships with three all-league performers, headlined by the Defensive Player of the Year and the Rookie of the Year.

Kaitlyn Birrell posted 20 points to lead Salve Regina past Eastern Nazarene, 74-52, in the opening round of the CCC playoffs.

DUDLEY, Mass. – Freshman Meaghan Harden (Sandwich, Mass.) led all scorers with 25 points as Salve Regina University won its fourth-straight to improve to 14-9 (11-5) with a 63-47 triumph over Nichols College in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women’s basketball action Tuesday night at the Nichols Athletic Center.

With indoor facilities, winter sports are rarely affected by the weather. But the forecasted storm for this weekend has forced postponements for all Seahawk events.
