Salve Regina ends its season at Endicott
BEVERLY, Mass. (May 4, 2019) -- Salve Regina University softball ended its season at Endicott College as the host and top-seeded Gulls survived a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) elimination game with a 9-1 victory in six innings. No. 4 seed Seahawks (23-20, 9-7 CCC) had survived their first two elimination games yesterday in Wenham, Mass., on the strength of three home runs by three different players - Maddie Machado (Westport, Mass.), Nikki Vanelli (Quakertown, Pa.), Jaycee Garrigan (Uxbridge, Mass.) - and 20 strikeouts with two complete-game (14 innings total) victories for the league's pitcher of the year, Andi Nelson (Candia, N.H.).
Today after the Gulls took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first, senior second-team All-CCC catcher Holly Kathios (Pelham, N.H.) tied the score in the top of the second with her first career home run.
