Summary
NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University starting pitcher Kelsey Boarman (No. Dighton, Mass.) tossed a four-hit shutout and struck out five batters as the Seahawks bested the visiting Beacons of UMass Boston, 1-0, in the opener of a non-conference doubleheader at Toppa Field. UMass Boston (13-3) took the nightcap, 9-5, in eight innings to gain a split with Salve Regina (7-8).

Series and Streaks
Salve Regina leads the all-time series, 6-4, but UMass Boston ended its six-game losing streak in the series with the extra-inning victory in the nightcap. The Seahawks are now 3-1 at Toppa Field in 2017.

1. Senior pitcher Kelsey Boarman (No. Dighton, Mass.) tossed her second straight complete-game shutout, limiting the potent Beacon offense (.351 batting average in 16 games) to just four basehits.
2. Junior infielder Francesca Galeazzi (Lynn, Mass.) reached base five times in eight at bats with three singles, two walks, four stolen bases, and two runs scored. She scored the only run of Game One in the bottom of the first when she led off with an infield single, stole second and third, and came home on a wild pitch.
3. Sophomore outfielder Lindsey Florent (New Bedford, Mass.) went three-for-three in the nightcap and stole a base.

• Boarman improved to 6-3 on the season and lowered her earned run average to 3.35 with her eighth complete game.
• Opposing pitcher Jess Greenspan (Rocky Hill, Conn.), a tough-luck loser in Game One on a five-hitter, struck out eight Seahawks on the day including six in the nightcap. She pitched all 15 innings for the Beacons and moved her record to 9-2.
• UMass Boston has lost just three games this season, and the Beacons have been shutout in all three defeats: 10-0 to St. Mary's (Ind.) on March 14; 8-0 to Kalamazoo on March 16; and 1-0 today to Salve Regina.
• Galeazzi, who entered the doubleheader ranked fifth in the nation in stolen bases per game (1.33), had four thefts to raise her season total to 20.
• Gia Raczkowski (Stoneham, Mass.) hit her team-leading third home run of the season, a solo blast to left field in the third inning, and launched a base-loaded shot over the fence in right center in the eighth inning, but passed her teammate on the basepaths and was ruled out with the three runs scoring ahead of her. Raczkowski gets credited with a single and three runs batted in.
