IPSWICH, Mass. (September 7, 2019) -- The numbers were simply not in Salve Regina's favor on Saturday. With four of the 12 men on the roster sidelined, the Seahawks sent eight to the line for the Endicott College Invitational. Six of the eight would finish, but only five emerged unscathed from their time in the trails at Bradley Palmer State Park.

That outcome left the Seahawks with a score and a spot in the standings, but certainly not one that was representative of the team at full strength. Salve Regina finished ninth out of 10 teams in the field.

Junior captain Aidan Lynch (Little Silver, N.J.) was the top runner for the Seahawks, finishing the 8K grass-and-trail course in 31 minutes, 16 seconds. He placed 24th in the field of 80 runners.

Senior captain Chandler Da Cruz (Middletown, R.I.) and senior Tanner Owens (Long Beach, N.Y.) ran in the No. 2 and No. 3 positions for Salve Regina. Senior Riley Rancourt (Warren, R.I.) and graduate student Brendan Clancey (Middletown, R.I.) completed the scoring. Senior Brendan Kelly (Lynbrook, N.Y.) was the sixth Seahawk across the finish line.

"Our older guys did an admirable job of making sure we posted a score today, but our position, in general, is not ideal," said head coach Rob McGuinness. "We have exercised an abundance of caution in scratching several guys from the first meets. It has had an effect on our scoring, but it is the right call for the long term. We will look like an entirely different team by mid-season."

Joseph Santese and Christopher Kimball of Nichols College finished 1-2 overall to lead the Bison to the team title. Nichols posted a team score of 57, finishing ahead of the Wentworth Institute of Technology (72) and Endicott (75).

The Salve Regina finishers included:
24. Aidan Lynch – 31:16
33. Chandler Da Cruz – 32:27
40. Tanner Owens – 33:11
52. Riley Rancourt – 34:25
57. Brendan Clancey – 35:02
69. Brendan Kelly – 37:39
