SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Freshman Sean Hughes (Old Saybrook, Conn.) earned a Top 10 finish, setting the pace for Salve Regina at the Golden Bear Invitational at Western New England University. Hughes placed eighth overall in a field of 204 runners and finished the 8,000-meter course in 26:51.

Babson College captured the team title with 56 points; Westfield State was second with 57. Salve Regina placed 16th out of 21 teams, with 411 points.

Freshman Timothy Roosa (Woodbury, Conn.) was the Seahawks' second runner, crossing the finish line in 29:48. Freshman Daniel LaBrie (East Providence, R.I.) ran 31:35, sophomore Jack Simpson (Lynn, Mass.) ran 32:39 and freshman Ben Campbell (R.I.) ran 33:03 to contribute to the team scoring.

Freshmen Matthew Sinkewicz (Colchester, Conn.) and Josh Critchley (Torrington, Conn.) were the sixth and seventh runners for Salve, with times of 33:10 and 33:25. Freshman Dean Wollenberg (Hopkinton, R.I.) finished in 37:54.

The team returns to action on Friday, Oct. 19 in a mini-meet at Central Connecticut State University.
