Top ten finish for Hughes at Pop Crowell
WENHAM, Mass. - Freshman Sean Hughes (Old Saybrook, Conn.) ran 26:53 for 8,000 meters and finished among the top 10 runners in a competitive field at the Pop Crowell Invitational at Gordon College.
Hughes' ninth-place finish set the pace for Salve Regina, as the Seahawks finished 18th in a field of 30 teams. Bates captured the team title with a score of 61.
Freshman Timothy Roosa (Woodbury, Conn.) was the Seahawks' second man, finishing 170th in 31:15. Freshman Daniel LaBrie (East Providence, R.I.) ran 31:51; sophomore Jack Simpson (Lynn, Mass.) ran 32:32 and freshman Josh Critchley (Torrington, Conn.) ran 35:00 to make up the scoring five for Salve Regina. Freshman Dean Wollenberg (Hopkinton, R.I.) was the team's sixth man, finishing in 37:48.
The team returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 6 at the James Early Invitational at Westfield State University.
