Hughes tops all CCC runners at Corsair meet

NO. DARTMOUTH, Mass. - Freshman Sean Hughes (Old Saybrook, Conn.) finished first among all Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) runners, leading the Seahawks to complete the race ahead of nine schools at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday.

Hughes crossed the line at 26:15, averaging a 5:17 mile to place 41st overall. Fellow freshman Timothy Roosa (Woodbury, Conn.) was Salve Regina's second finisher with a time of 28:49, while freshman Brian Dagliere (North Haven, Conn.) completed the team's top three by completing the race in 29:50. Freshman Daniel Labrie (East Providence, R.I.) and senior Michael Stankus (Cropseyville, N.Y.) rounded-out Salve Regina's runners with times of 31:49 and 32:51, respectively.

The Seahawks will be back in action this Saturday when the compete in the Wesleyan Invitational in Wesleyan, Conn.
