EASTON, Mass. - The Salve Regina University men's and women's cross country teams opened their 2012 campaign by competing in the Skyhawk Relays in Easton, Mass. on Saturday. 

The Salve Regina women's cross country relay team of Mallory Goding (Cumberland, Maine),Ema Waldschmidt (Verbank, N.Y.) and Aubrey Palmquist (Bristol, Conn.) finished seventh out of 33 three person relay teams at the Stonehill College Skyhawk relays on Saturday.  Stonehill College, the 2011 NCAA Division II East Region Champions took five of the top seven relay spots.

Other Salve Regina relay finishes included a 10th place finish from the team of Rachel Gedansky (Tolland, Conn.), Joelle Ross (Simsbury, Conn.) and Alexis Gallipoli (Branford, Conn.), a 16th place finish from the team of Lea Cure (Altamont, N.Y.), Jackie Ofria (Manchester, Conn.) and Shannon Holden (Hingham, Mass.), a 20th place finish from the relay team of Danielle Schioppo (North Haven, Conn.), Antoinette Galdo (Park Ridge, N.J.) and Victoria Maxson (Old Saybrook, Conn.), a 21st place finish by Sabrina Parisi (Gloucester, Mass.), Mary-Ashley Donelan (Upton, Mass.) and Kelsey Windisch (Ridgefield, Conn.) a 24th place finish by Grace Mills (Groton, Conn.), Carlie Currier (East Granby, Conn.) and Karen Krupa (South Burlington, Vt.) and a 33rd place finish from Rachel Pyne (Foxboro, Mass.) and Amy Piccicacco (Point Pleasant Beach, N.J.).

Aubrey Palmquist recorded the fastest two-mile split of all 96 runners in the race with a time of 11:52.

On the men's side, the relay team of Sean Hughes (Old Saybrook, Conn.), Timothy Roosa(Woodbury, Conn.) and Brian Dagliere (North Haven, Conn.) finished 14th in the 25 team field. The team of Grant Olsen (Bay Head, N.J.), Daniel LaBrie (East Providence, R.I.) and Jack Simpson (Lynn, Mass.) finished 22nd and the team of Dean Wollenberg (Hopkington, R.I.), Josh Critchley (Torrington, Conn.) and Matthew Sinkewicz (Colchester, Conn.) finished 23rd.

Sean Hughes had the 5th fastest time of the day with a two-mile split of 10:05.

Both the men's and women's teams will be back in action next Saturday, running in the Trinity Invitational.
