Summary
NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University freshman Aaron White (Falmouth, Mass.) rallied for a three-set victory at fourth singles to lift his team to a 5-4 victory over visiting Rhode Island College at the Seahawks' tennis court on Leroy Avenue on Thursday.

The Anchormen (0-4) had taken a 2-1 lead after doubles before taking two singles matches. The Seahawks had tied the team score at 4-4 with wins at the top three singles positions. White's triumph at fourth singles was the deciding point.

Series and Streaks
The Seahawks have won the last four meetings, but still trail the all-time series with the Anchormen, 12-7.

Three Stars of the Match

  1. Salve Regina junior Will Masse (Wyoming, R.I.) won at second doubles with Aaron White before posting a 6-0,6-0 victory at first singles.
  2. Salve Regina freshman Aaron White (Falmouth, Mass.) teamed with Masse for the lone Seahawk doubles point; his three-set victory at fourth singles clinched the match for the home team.
  3. Rhode Island College sophomore Matthew Gambardella (West Warwick, R.I.) did not drop a game while winning two matches for the Anchormen; an 8-0 decision at third doubles with Alan Esposito (Clinton, Conn.) preceded a 6-0,6-0 final at fifth singles.

White's three-set win at fourth singles gave the team match decision to Salve Regina.
