SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (November 12, 2019) - The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) has selected Salve Regina University sophomore Rich Ventura (Floral Park, N.Y.) as its Defensive Player of the Week for men's soccer (November 4 - 10) during the league's tournament championship.

CCC Defensive Player of the Week - Ventura makes it three straight weeks for a Seahawk and the fifth time overall. The sophomore midfielder was the heart of a Salve Regina defense that claimed the CCC Tournament title this year. In two tournament games for the Seahawks, Ventura was able to shut down his opponents' attacks with timely tackles and intercepted passes. In addition to his strong defensive play, Ventura also got forward for a goal and assist in the CCC Semifinal against No. 5 seed Nichols.

Salve Regina (14-4-3, 6-0-2 CCC) won its fourth CCC Tournament title and first time as the No. 1 seed. The Seahawks will represent the conference in the 2019 NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Championships in a first-round match with Rowan University on Saturday (1:30 p.m.) in a regional hosted by University of Mary Washington (Fredericksburg, Va.).
