Summary
NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University men's soccer won its Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) opener, 3-0, against visiting Curry College, and the Seahawks improve to 6-0-0 on the season. The win also marks the fourth shutout of the season for the Seahawks, all with senior Michael Payan (Fort Lee, N.J.) minding the net.

Seahawk senior John Julian (Upper Saddle River, N.J.) broke a scoreless tie just before the end of the first half with an assist from classmate Jordan Elster (Sutton, Mass.).

In the second half, Salve Regina got insurance tallies from senior Conor Woods (Otisville, N.Y.) and sophomore Owen Stevenson (Middletown, Conn.). Payan finished with four saves while his counterpart Paul DeMaio (North Andover, Mass.) stopped nine Seahawk shots.

Salve Regina owns a 19-8-8 record in the all-time series, however the Colonels had won the previous three (each by a 2-1 score) and four of the last five. Salve Regina's six-game win streak to start a season is second only to an 8-0 start in 2012.
