THE LEAD:
Both Salve Regina and host Dean College scored single goals in opposite halves and neither team could find the back of the net in the extra periods, so the Seahawks and Bulldogs settled for a 1-1 draw in non-league men's soccer action on Wednesday afternoon.

The tie for Dean is their second in their last four matches but still leaves them without a loss as they sit at 7-0-2. For Salve Regina, meanwhile, they end with their second straight 1-1 tie and are now 1-2-3 in their last six matches.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The game was scoreless early on until the Bulldogs' Yuri Mascarenhas (Quincy, Mass.) was on the attack on the left side and fired a shot that was turned aside by Evan Coose (Easton, Mass.). The rebound came right out to Felipe Campos (Barnstable, Mass.) who blasted in his league-leading eighth goal of the season at 27:07.

Dean had an excellent opportunity to double its lead in the 40th minute when some fantastic passing found Cristiano Martins (Brockton, Mass.) at the top of the box but his attempt with a defender on his back sailed high.

After nearly 70 minutes of scoreless activity, the Seahawks finally dented the scoreboard when Connor Woods (Otisville, N.Y.) connected with Jared Warren (Georgetown, Mass.) for the game's equalizer at 69:44.

The best scoring chance in the extra periods for either team came in the second overtime when Campos had his shot bang off the post in the 105th minute.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
The game was statistically pretty close with both teams recording 12 shots each and Salve Regina holding a slight 5-4 advantage in corner kicks.

Coose had three saves for the Seahawks while Nathan Silveira (East Providence, R.I.) ended with six stops.

UP NEXT:
The Cardinal and White return to the field on Saturday when they host Fisher College at 1:00 p.m., while the Seahawks return to CCC action with a visit from Roger Williams.
