Series and Streaks
Wesleyan has won in back-to-back years to improve to 4-1-0 in the all-time series. Salve Regina's only win came in 1999 in Newport, 2-1, before the series went dormant until 2014.

Three Stars of the Game
1 – Wesleyan sophomore Charlie Livingstone (Pelham, N.Y.) was everywhere distributing the ball for his forwards, while challenging and taking possession from the Seahawks.
2 – Wesleyan senior Hans Erickson (Amherst, Mass.) scored his first goal of the season with a persistent effort on a loose ball.
3 – Salve Regina junior Steven Aston (Sherborn, Mass.) converted a penalty kick in the first half that tied the game at 1-1. It was his first goal of season while he continued to clear the box, most often with headers.

Key Stat of the Game
Wesleyan committed two fouls in the box, one an unfortunate hand ball on a tough bounce, and the other just as Salve Regina senior Peter Kristensen (Sharon, Vt.) entered the box from the middle with the ball.

Turning Point
In a span of 2:39 early in the second half, Wesleyan got first goals of the season from Komar Martinez-Paiz (Pawtucket, R.I.) and Erickson to go up by three, 4-1.

Quick Hits

  • Salve Regina converts two penalty kicks in regulation for the first time ever.
  • Craig O'Rourke II entered all but one on his roster in today's game, later apologizing to John Julian (Upper Saddle River, N.J.) for the oversight.
  • Seahawks have completed the non-league games on their schedule.
  • Jordan Elster (Sutton, Mass.) scored his first collegiate goal with his penalty kick in the final minute.

Quotes
"Wesleyan is a very good, very capable opponent – they are quick, powerful, dynamic, disciplined, and well coached.  I thought they had us on our back foot right from the opening whistle and we seemed tentative, if not overwhelmed, in that first 10-minutes.  But then as the match settled in, we started to play more and I thought the next 35 minutes were pretty even with the flow of the match going back and forth.  Their first two goals boiled down to individual errors on our part that if we don't make, it's probably an even 0-0 match at the interval.  The first penalty was a gift from our field as their player got caught on a bit of bad footing and threw his arm up and wound up handling the ball.  Our second penalty may have also been a bit of a gift as I thought the foul was outside the box.  Regardless, both of our guys stepped up and buried their chances.  Yet again, it's not a bad performance out of us and we seem to either bring our best soccer to play against our 'power' opponents, or perhaps a more accurate accounting is that we play to the level of our opponent.  But as much as we may want to take heart in the performance, the result – which is still ultimately a loss – is what will be remembered in the annals." – Salve Regina head coach Craig O'Rourke II
