BOSTON, Mass.—Junior Luis Mattos (Sete Lagoas, Brazil) and sophomore Edmilson Barros (Praia, Cape Verde) each finished with a goal and an assist to lead UMass Boston men's soccer (10-4) past Salve Regina University (6-7) 5-1 Tuesday afternoon at the Clark Athletic Field.

After going into the half tied 1-1, UMass Boston used a four-goal second half to earn back-to-back, double-digit win seasons for the first time in program history. With the win today, the Beacons reached the 10-win mark for the eighth time in 35 years as a program.

Seniors Douglas Silveira (Revere, Mass.) and Rolando Barbosa (Fogo, Cape Verde) also added second-half goals for the Beacons, who improved to 5-0 in home contests.

Sophomore Klismam Mendes (Fogo, Cape Verde) added the final tally for his first collegiate goal as a Beacon.

Little East Conference Rookie of the Week Estive Sosa (Chelsea, Mass.) stopped three of four shots on target to improve to 2-1 on the year.

Evan Dudney recorded the lone goal for the visiting Seahawks off of a deflection off of a Beacons' player. Senior Devin L'Heureux was credited with an assist on the play.

Junior goalie Daniel Stern and freshman Bryan McCormack combined for five saves on 10 shots in the loss.

UMass Boston doubled up the Seahawks in shots (16-8) and shots on goal (10-4), while holding a 4-3 edge in corner kicks.

Salve Regina opened the match with a ton of energy to put the Beacons' on their heels. Sosa was forced to make all three saves in the first 10:34 of the contest, but the Beacons slowly got into gear after an early scare.

Mattos gave UMass Boston a brief lead at 25:03 when he found a loose ball off of a Marcus Pizzetti (Malden, Mass.) shot and knocked home the rebound for his third goal of the year.

Dudney responded at 36:57 thanks to a bit of help from a Beacon defender. The sophomore's shot from 15-yards out looked to be way off target, but it went off the foot of a defender and deflected just inside the far netting for a 1-1 tie.

UMass Boston struggled to get things going out of halftime, until Silveira sparked a three-goal run in less than six minutes.

The senior co-captain executed a perfect give-and-go with Mattos from just outside the box and finished with his left foot for a 2-1 advantage at 67:36.

Barbosa tacked on the Beacons' third goal of the day off of a brilliant cross from Elton Teixeira (Boston, Mass.) to push the lead to 3-1 at 71:57.

UMass Boston closed out the scoring run at 73:09, when Barros buried a penalty kick past Stern for his fourth tally of the season.

The Beacons tacked on their fifth and final goal in the 88th minute off of a defensive lapse by the Seahawks. Lucas Silva (Malden, Mass.) sent a brilliant pass over the top that the Seahawks failed to clear and Mendes chased it down, before dribbling by the goalie for his first career goal. The assist was the first of Silva's career as well.
