On the first day of Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action, Gordon College Men's Lacrosse welcomed the Salve Regina University Seahawks at the Brigham Athletic Complex this afternoon and, despite storming out to an 8-4 lead after the first quarter, were bested by their guests, 16-12, to move to 3-3 overall on the season.

Gordon's Dan Arthur and Tytus Moen scored three goals each, while Billy Biegun picked up a team-high seven ground balls.

For the visitors, Pat Leary (So./Wakefield, Mass.) led the way with seven goals, Brendan Kelly (So.Long Beach, N.Y.) and Niko Szelest (Fr./Bristol, R.I.) added a hat trick each, and Joe Sousa (Jr./Cranston, R.I.) scooped up a game-high nine ground balls.

Gordon travels to Nichols College on Wednesday, March 27 to continue CCC action against the Bison for a 7 p.m. first whistle.

How It Happened

  • The Fighting Scots scored three times in a 68-second span to jump out to a quick 3-0 lead. In total, seven different Scots found the back of the net en route to a dominant 8-4 first quarter.
  • After Gordon's Arthur scored to open the second, Salve netted three unanswered to cut the lead to two at the 8:11 mark. Though Moen stopped the run, the Seahawks went on a 4-0 tear to close out the half and take an 11-10 lead at the break.
  • Not even thirty seconds into the third, SRU's Leary added another for his squad to lead by a pair of goals, but Moen and Nate Distasio tied it up at 12 for the Scots with just under seven minutes remaining in the third.
  • From there it was all Salve, however, as the Seahawks scored the final four goals of the game to book the four-goal W.
