Seahawks offense too much for Wildcats

PROVIDENCE, RI. - A high-scoring second half was the difference in Wednesday's contest between the Johnson & Wales University men's lacrosse team and Salve Regina University. The Seahawks scored seven fourth-quarter goals to defeat the Wildcats, 21-13.

Of Note:

The Wildcats got off to a fast start, scoring two goals in the opening 3:32 of the first quarter. Matt Gelb's second  goal of the period helped tie the game at 4-4 after one quarter of play.

Erik Lindaas tallied the last goal of the first half with 35 seconds on the clock to stop a 3-0 SRU run and cut the Wildcats' deficit to 10-7 going in the locker room.

Thomas Lyons netted two of his team-high four goals in the final 1:27 of the third quarter to keep the JWU deficit at three goals.

The Seahawks erased any hopes of a JWU comeback with seven-straight goals to start the fourth quarter. 

Niko Szelest and Ethan Robson led the Seahawks attack, scoring five goals and four goals, respectively.

Joe Sousa won 26-of-35 face-offs, helping lead the Seahawks to victory. The Seahawks also had a 51-30 advantage in shots on goal and ground balls, 40-25.
