Three Stars of the Game

2 – Clark sophomore Brandon King (Eastham, Mass.) - scored three times, twice in the fourth quarter to help lead a late rally by the Cougars.

Key Stat of the Game
After falling behind 4-2 the Seahawks went on a 8-2 scoring run, and wound up doubling up the Cougars the remainder of the way, holding on late for a 10-8 final.
Turning Point
The Cougars scored 42 second into the second half to take a 5-4 lead but the Seahawks answered shortly with goals from Fera and defenseman Mike Sheehan (Wading River, N.Y.) to take their first lead, 6-5. Eric Backus (Mansfield, Mass.) converted on the man-up with just over five minutes left in the third, then Fera fired in his second of the day, also on the man-up. Matt Heeter (Wading River, N.Y.) cashed in midway through the fourth to cap a 5-0 scoring run, giving the Seahawks their largest lead of the day.
Quick Hits
- Trailing 10-6 with three minutes to play the Cougars needed to work quickly if they had hopes of a comeback. Isaac Bass (Amherst, Mass.) scored on a long drive that trickled in, then Brandon King added his third of the day 17 seconds later and suddenly it was a two-score game with 2:44 left to play. The Seahawks won the ensuing faceoff however and were able to play enough keepaway and run out the remaining time, holding on late for the second straight game to improve to 2-0.
- The Seahawks had eight different players score including both starting defenseman, Mike Mongelli (Roslyn, N.Y.) and Mike Sheehan.
- Drew Riopelle-Tyrell (Northville, Mich.) made several sensational stops in between the pipes for the Cougars to keep the game closer. He stopped eight of 15 shots in the loss. Jacob Reiner (Farmington, Conn.) started the third quarter and allowed three goals without recording a save, leading to Riopelle-Tyrell reentering the game.
- Will Mandracchia (Melrose, Mass.) had two goals and three assists for the Cougars.
- Clark outshot the Seahawks 37-31 and was 3-for-5 on the man-up. Salve went 2-for-6 with the man advantage.
- Jake Gonzalez (Tolland, Conn.) won 14-of-21 face-offs for the Seahawks.
