Summary
Two goals in the first 1:13 of the game set the tone for the Salve Regina University men's lacrosse team as they were able to build a big lead and improve to 3-0 with an 11-6 victory over visiting Mitchell College.

Series and Streaks
This was the third meeting between the two teams. The Seahawks now own a 3-0 record in the all-time series.

Three Stars of the Game
1 – Salve Regina senior Sharp Jones (Scituate, Mass.) scored five times and added two assists.
2 – Salve Regina junior Jake Gonzalez (Tolland, Conn.) won 12 of 14 faceoffs.
3 – Salve Regina sophomore Zach Makoske (Shoreham, N.Y.) scored twice and added an assist.

Key Stat of the Game
The Seahawks won 17-20 faceoffs and collected 50 ground balls, allowing them to control the game.

Turning Point
The Seahawks had taken a 2-0 lead 1:13 into the game and the Mariners responded with a goal from Aaron Sladyk (South Windsor, Conn.) to make it 2-1 with 12:21 to play. Gonzalez won the ensuing draw and sprinted forward, passing to Sharp Jones who touched the ball to Andrew Fera (Cranston, R.I.) in front to get the goal right back. The goal was the first of four straight for the Seahawks and the Mariners were never that close again all night.

  • All three Seahawks goalies saw action. Matt D'Amore (Duxbury, Mass.) started the game, Nathan Lalonde (East Middlebury, Vt.) played the entire third period, then split the fourth with Brian Farina (Jenkintown, Pa.).
  • Six different players scored for Salve Regina while five different scored for Mitchell.
  • Owen LaPorte (Farmington, Conn.) was the only player for Mitchell with two goals.
  • The Mariners actually outshot the Seahawks in the game 35-30.
