ONEONTA, N.Y. – Senior Chad Hollenshade (Lutherville, Md.) had a season-high five goals as he led the Salve Regina men's lacrosse team to a 17-11 win over Hartwick, Saturday afternoon. The win for the Seahawks keeps them perfect on the season at 4-0, while the Hawks slip to 0-1 to start the year.

With the score knotted 6-6 with 2:23 to play in the third quarter, Hollenshade and sophomore James Fee (Massapequa, N.Y.)  combined for five goals to close out the quarter and lift Salve Regina to a 11-6 lead with 15 minutes to play. Hollenshade and Fee each scored a pair of goals, one unassisted and one on a feed from freshman Nick LoCicero (Lynbrook, N.Y.) before Hollenshade finished out the quarter with his fourth of the game.

Hartwick scored just 10 seconds into the final frame but Hollenshade responded with his fifth of the game off a pass from senior Curtis McKeon (West Haven, Conn.) to maintain Salve Regina's five-goal lead, 12-7. McKeon and senior Dan Parks (Nesconset, N.Y.) scored back-to-back goals to extend Salve Reigna's lead to 14-7 but Hartwick responded with four-straight goals to cut the Seahawk lead to 14-11 with 4:04 to play in the game.

LoCicero tallied his first of the game with 2:48 to play before sophomore Sharp Jones (Scituate, Mass.) scored the final two goals of the contest within 24 seconds of each other to bring the score to its final, -17-11 in favor of the Seahawks.

McKeon and Hollenshade accounted for the only two goals of the first quarter to give Salve Regina 2-0 lead after the first 15 minutes of action. Hartwick tied it 2-2 quickly into the second quarter but Jones and Sharp had a pair of goals, one a man down and one on an extra man opportunity, to give Salve Regina 4-2 lead. Sophomore Billy Sampson (Commack, N.Y.) scored his first of the collegiate goal with 2:22 to play before half to extend the Seahawk lead to 5-2.

The Hawks closed the gap with a goal with 26 seconds left on the clock as the Seahawks took a 5-3 lead into halftime.

With SRU on a man-up opportunity, the LoCicero to McKeon connection worked as it has all season as McKeon notched his second of the game to push the Seahawk lead to 6-3 just 10 seconds into the third. Hartwick scored three straight goals to tie the game before the Seahawks closed out the third with five unanswered goals to take the lead back for good.

Freshman Andrew Watkins (Natick, Mass.) stopped 18 shots on net in his fourth win as a Seahawk while his Hartwick counterpart Michael Rourke made 22 saves in the loss.

Hollenshade led all players with five goals while LoCicero continues his excellent freshman campaign with five assists and a goal. McKeon won 17-24 face offs, picking up 13 ground balls. Jones and Fee each recorded a hat trick for Salve Regina.

The Seahawks look to go 5-0 on the year as they travel to Hood for a 3:30 p.m. contest against the Blazers on Tuesday.
