BOSTON, Mass. – Gridiron Club of Greater Boston president Cheryl Duddy Schoenfeld announced today that 30 players are semifinalists for the 20th Joe Concannon Award, presented annually to the best American-born NCAA Division II/III college hockey player in New England. Among these is Salve Regina University men's ice hockey forward Danny Eruzione (Winthrop, Mass.).

Eruzione, a junior captain, currently leads the Seahawks in scoring (4 goals, 15 assists, 15 points).

The Joe Concannon Award was established in 2001 shortly after the passing of the longtime writer for The Boston Globe, who had a great passion for the game of college hockey while always advocating strongly for amateur athletics.
Twenty-one teams are represented in this year's list of candidates that includes eight players from the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC), six from the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC), six from the New England Hockey Conference (NEHC), two from the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC), and six from the Northeast-10 Conference (NE-10). Two nominees come from Independent Anna Maria; theyare the first nominations for the school in just its second season as an NCAA D-III program.

The list of nominees includes 16 skilled forwards, eight versatile defensemen and six superb goaltenders. Trinity and Curry lead the way with three nominees while Massachusetts-Boston, Babson, St. Anselm and Anna Maria each have two players on the list.
