Summary
PORTSMOUTH, R.I. - The Salve Regina University men's ice hockey team earned its second straight victory with a 4-0 shutout of visiting Becker College in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action.

Series and Streaks
The Seahawks own a 17-10-0 record in the all-time series and have won nine in a row over the Hawks.

Three Stars of the Game

  1. Salve Regina sophomore Louis-Felix St. Jean (St. Bruno, Quebec) made 22 saves tro record his second shutout of the season.
  2. Salve Regina junior Vincenzo Renda (Westmount, Quebec) scored what proved to be the game-winning goal on the power play 7:30 into the second period.
  3. Salve Regina sophomore Matthew Dillon (Grafton, Mass.) scored short-handed late in the second period to give the Seahawks a 2-0 lead.

Turning Point
After a scoreless first period the Seahawks finally broke through on the power play when Renda scored his second of the year. Becker would come up empty on its next three power play opportunities with a chance to tie the game. On the third and final power play of the second period the Hawks had a 5-on-3, but surrendered a short-handed goal to Matt Dillon after he came from the box to make it 5-on-4. Dillon received a pass from Paul Boutoussov (Dana Point, Calif.), who had just blocked a shot at the point, and sprinted into the attacking end and snapped a shot to the back of the net to give the Seahawks a 2-0 lead and steal momentum from the Hawks.

Key Stat
