Summary
PORTSMOUTH, R.I. - Senior forward Eric Lipa (Lockport, N.Y.) scored at 2:06 into the overtime period to give the Salve Regina University men's ice hockey team a 4-3 victory over Wentworth Institute of Technology in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action Saturday night.

Angela's Army
Today's contest was played for Angela Augusta, who is a 2019 graduate of Salve Regina and was a four-year member of the women's ice hockey program. Shortly after graduating, Angela was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma, which is a blood cancer that attacks the body's immune system, It is Angela's mission through creating the fundraising organization "Angela's Army" that she and others will be able to raise awareness about Hodgkin's Lymphoma and give back to cancer patients who cannot afford certain health care expenses. Series and Streaks
The Leopards own a 27-8-3 record all-time however the Seahawks have won the last two meetings and are 4-2-2 in the last eight games.

Three Stars of the Game

  1. Salve Regina senior Eric Lipa scored his second goal of the season to give the Seahawks the win in OT. He also handed out an assist.
  2. Salve Regina sophomore Louis-Felix St. Jean (St. Bruno, Quebec) made 31 saves to improve to 4-0 in net for the Seahawks.
  3. Wentworth sophomore Jake McKenelley (Middleton, Mass.) assisted on a powerplay goal in the second period then scored the game-tying goal in the third to help the Leopards force overtime.

Turning Point
Vincent Marino (Waterford, Mich.) tipped down a shot from defenseman Spencer Stanley (South Lyon, Mich.) which bounced in towards the goal seemingly for a save, however Lipa managed to jam the puck past the Leopards' netminder to give the Seahawks a 4-3 victory in their first overtime game of the season.

Quick Hits

  • The Seahawks never trailed in the game, but the Leopards did tie the game twice, 1-1 and 3-3 after falling behind 3-1 early in the second period.
  • Thomas Draper (Binghamton, N.Y.) made 34 saves in the loss to fall to 1-4 on the season.
  • The Seahawks held a 38-34 edge in shots, and outshot the Leopards 4-0 in overtime.
