Summary
PORTSMOUTH, R.I. - Five goals in the first 10:43 of the game helped the Salve Regina University men's ice hockey team defeat Western New England 7-0 in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action Saturday evening.

Three Stars of the Game

  1. Salve Regina junior Danny Eruzione (Winthrop, Mass.) scored twice, his short-handed goal at 3:32 of the first proved to be the game-winner, and handed out two assists.
  2. Salve Regina junior Erik Udahl (East Walpole, Mass.) scored twice and was a +2 on the ice.
  3. Salve Regina sophomore Tony Rehm (Madison, Wisc.) made five saves in 40 shutout minutes of action to improve to 2-0 on the season. He has yet to allow a goal in his 100 minutes of time in net.

Turning Point
Danny Eruzione scored shorthanded to give the Seahawks a 1-0 lead at 3:32 of the first period. The Seahawks scored again at 8:41 of a deflection from the point, then the flood gates opened and the Seahawks scored three more goals in the span of 1:18 to take a commanding 5-0 lead.

Quick Hits

  • Colten Lancaster (Kelowna, B.C.) made his first career start and made three saves while allowing three goals to fall to 0-1 on the season. He was replaced by Kyle Carducci (Rocky Hill, Conn.) who made 28 saves in relief while surrendering four more scores.
  • Salve Regina held a 38-8 advantage in shots.
  • Salve Regina went 1-for-6 on the powerplay while holding the Golden Bears off the board on their lone powerplay as well as netting a shorthanded goal, the first of the season for the Seahawks.
