WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The No. 14 ranked Salve Regina University men's ice hockey team scored a pair of power play goals in a 3-0 victory over Western New England University on Friday night in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at the Olympia Ice Center.

Top Performers
Junior forward John McLean (North Andover, Mass.) fueled the Salve offense with two goals and an assist, while freshman defenseman Spencer Stanley (South Lyon, Mich.) dished out three helpers and junior defenseman Vincenzo Renda (Westmount, Que.) tallied a pair of assists.

Making his first start of the season, Seahawks' sophomore goaltender Tony Rehm (Madison, Wis.) posted a 28-save shutout.

Game Review
Salve needed just 25 seconds to get on the board as sophomore Tyler Carangelo (Hamden, Conn.) opened the scoring with assists from McLean and Stanley to give the visitors an early lead. That goal would be the lone tally of the opening period as the Seahawks held a 1-0 advantage through 20 minutes of play.

After being outshot 14-4 in the first period, the Golden Bears benefited from four Salve penalties in the middle frame as Western New England outshot the Seahawks 17-10. The Golden Bears were unable to capitalize on their opportunities with a man advantage however, and Salve took a 2-0 lead with 29 seconds left in the period on a power play goal by McLean.

Midway through the third period, McLean found the back of the net again on another Salve power play to cap the scoring in the contest.

Notes
• Western New England senior goalie Kyle Carducci (Rocky Hill, Conn.) finished with 32 saves in the loss.
• The Seahawks outshot the Golden Bears 35-28 and held a 27-24 edge in the faceoff circle.
• Western New England went 0-for-6 on the power play.
