Summary
PORTSMOUTH, R.I. - Three unanswered goals helped the Salve Regina University men's ice hockey team to a comeback win over visiting Nichols College in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action Friday night.

The Bison own a 21-17-4 record in the all-time series however the Seahawks have won three in a row and five of the last six meetings.
Three Stars of the Game
- Salve Regina sophomore John McLean (North Andover, Mass.) scored his tenth of the season 11:05 into the second period to put the Seahawks on top 3-2, it proved to be the game-winning goal.
- Salve Regina senior Blake Wojtala (Trenton, Mich.) made 32 saves to improve to 12-6-2 in net.
- Nichols sophomore Henry Burns (Camillus, N.Y.) made 29 saves in the loss and falls to 4-3-2 between the pipes for the Bison.
Key Stat of the Game
Salve Regina held the Bison to 1-for-6 on the powerplay, including 0-for-3 in the third period, and stopped an extra attacker with the goalie pulled in the final minutes by scoring an empty net goal.
Turning Point
After jumping on top first the Seahawks found themselves trailing 2-1 at the first intermission. The Bison lead did not last long however as Matthew Kidney (Leonardo, N.J.) lit the lamp on a breakaway 3:18 into the second period to tie the game. Later in the period, John McLean cleaned up a rebound on the powerplay to give the Seahawks a 3-2 lead which they took into the third period. The Bison had multiple crack on the powerpay to tie the game, but could not break through the Seahawks defense. With 2:13 left to play the Bison pulled Burns for the extra attacker and had a number of shots on the net and created a few tense moments with scrums around the crease, but eventually the Seahawks were able to clear the puck and Kyle Moore (Cumming, Ga.) scored on the open net to seal a Seahawks victory.

- The Bison got on the board in the first period five seconds into a powerplay when Petr Miko (Zlin, Czech Republic) tipped in a goal. With 59 seconds remaining in the first period Matthew Menta (Lima, Pa.) scored on a delayed penalty to give the Bison a 2-1 lead heading into the break.
- Matthew Dillon (Grafton, Mass.) notched three assists for the Seahawks. He ranks ninth in the nation in points per game for defenseman and ninth among all rookies after tonight's results.
- The Bison outshot the Seahawks 34-33.
- The Seahawks are now 11-0-0 when leading after the second period and the Bison are now 0-6-1 when trailing after the second period.
