Curry rolls past Seahawks, 9-4

MILTON, Mass. - Curry College defeated Salve Regina 9-4, in men's ice hockey action on Saturday night in Milton, Mass. The Seahawks fall to 1-20-1 overall and 0-10-1 in conference play, while the Colonels improve to 15-6-1 overall and 9-1-1 in the ECAC Northeast.

 

The Colonels outshot the Seahawks 23-2 in the first period. Senior Sean Sylvester scored first for Curry. Sophomore Payden Benning would put the Colonels up by two but Salve Regina answered back just 47 seconds later on a goal by senior Patrick Bambury. Sophomore Ryan Barlock closed out the scoring in the period to take a two goal lead heading into the second.

 

Curry scored three more goals in the second period before Salve Regina score their second of the night. The Colonels would score a total four goals in the period to go up on the Seahawks 7-2. Benning would score his second and third of the night and teammates, sophomore Shane Geib and freshman Jacob Hutt, each scored one. Freshman Mackenzie Swartz scored for the Seahawks.

 

The third period was even in scoring as both teams got two goals each. Curry started the scoring in the first minute of play on a goal by sophomore Steven Mohler and just a minute and a half later junior Adam Gorelick scored the ninth and final goal for Curry. Salve Regina would get goals from senior Tyler Trott and junior Bryan Russell.

 

Senior Zachary Cardella earned the win in net for the Colonels making 12 saves. Sophomore Ben Bradley played in goal for the first two periods and made 37 saves in the loss and teammate, freshman Bobby Baylis, finished in net for the Seahawks and made nine saves.

 

Curry's next game is away at Nichols on February 15th at 2:30 p.m. Salve Regina hosts Wentworth on February 14th at 4:30 p.m.
