Home court advantage works for Bears versus Seahawks

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Salve Regina University men's basketball travelled 36 miles for its road game at Division I Brown University and the host Bears defeated the Seahawks, 96-64, at the Pizzitola Sports Center on Wednesday afternoon.

Salve Regina (2-3) had three double-figure scorers with Cameron Collins (Oakdale, Conn.) leading the way with a game high 21 points. Jonathan Friberg (No. Attleboro, Mass.) and Kevin Kelly (Valhalla, N.Y.) added 14 points each for the Seahawks. Senior Kevin Mannix (Barrington, R.I.) was in a Thanksgiving mood dishing out four assists.

The Bears jumped out to a 50-28 lead at the half with balanced scoring throughout the lineup. Desmond Cambridge (Nashville, Tenn.) and Choh scored nine points each, while Howard and Anderson added eight points apiece by intermission.

Sophomore Tamenang Choh scored 13 points to pace 14 different Brown scorers, leading the Bears to their fourth straight win, 96-64, over Salve Regina on Thanksgiving Eve at the Pizzitola Sports Center.

Brown (4-2) led from start to finish with Choh scoring nine of his 13 points in the opening half, while connecting on 5-of-6 field goals and two free throws.

Brown led by as many as 33 points in the second half, 94-61, on a trey by freshman Thomas Shaughnessy (Needham, Mass.) with 1:57 remaining.

Salve Regina has played Division I opponents three times in the last decade with losses in each meeting:

• November 30, 2013 - at Bryant University (L, 82-55)
• November 15, 2016 - at Bryant University (L, 88-61)
• November 21, 2018 - at Brown University (L, 96-64)

The Seahawks return to action on Tuesday, November 28, at Nichols College in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) opener for both schools.
