NEWPORT, R.I. – No. 7 Salve Regina University men's basketball travels to Wenham, Mass., to face No. 2 Gordon College in Commonwealth Coast Conferene (CCC) Quarterfinals. The Scots swept the Seahawks in the league's regular-season games, and have won the last seven meetings between the two schools. These schools have met three times in CCC postseason play with Gordon winning twice - most recently in 2007.

LAST TIME OUT
Salve Regina University senior Rodney Morton (Malden, Mass.) scored a game-high 27 points in his final regular-season home game, but Gordon College went away for an 80-67 victory in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) men's basketball action at the Rodgers Recreation Center. Four Scots scored in double figures led by starters Jake Hart (Allendale, N.J.) and Eric Demers (Acushnet, Mass.) with 16 points apiece.

SEAHAWKS NOTES FROM THE NEST

  • Salve Regina last won the conference championship in 2011 when the Seahawks were the No. 5 seed and won three straight on the road - at Regis (62-58), at Anna Maria (89-80), and at Wentworth (68-58) in overtime.
  • Salve Regina has won three titles in men's basketball, and has finished as runner-up three times - most recently in 2012 as the No. 1 seed and hosting Endicott College.
  • Two of the league's top five scorers are in tonight's game - Gordon's Eric Demers (24.0 ppg) and Salve Regina's Rodney Morton (20.5 ppg).
  • Freshman Cameron Collins qualifies as the second best in the league if field goal percentage (61.7%).

SCOTS ISSUES

  • Gordon has won a pair of men's basketball conference championships (2010, 2014).
