MIDDLETOWN, R.I. - Roger Williams University field hockey defeated Salve Regina University, 6-4, at Gaudet Field in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action. The Hawks (4-5, 1-3 CCC) gain their first conference victory of the season and end their three-game losing skid against the Seahawks (3-6, 1-4 CCC). Salve Regina continues to lead the all-time series, 9-2.

Salve Regina junior Ashley Cody (Pawling, N.Y.) scored her league-leading 12th goal of the season in the 14th minute for a 1-0 lead. Roger Williams freshman Brooklyn Cenatiempo (Trumbull, Conn.) scored her fourth goal of the year to tie the score in the 27th minute. Very shortly after, the Hawks had their first lead, 2-1, when senior Taylor Powell (Windham, N.H.) initiated a penalty corner and then kept jabbing away to put the ball past senior goaltender Ally Daly (Peabody, Mass.).

Salve Regina sophomore Taylor Bulis (Lakeville, Mass.) tied the game with 26 seconds remaining before the half, but Roger Williams was not content with being even at the break. The Hawks went on the attack and drew another penalty corner with under 10 seconds left. With the clock at zeroes, Powell again stood on the goal line to clean up a loose ball, her second of the game and fourth goal of the season.

Five minutes into the second half, freshman Taylor Woodbury (Hamilton, Mass.) scored her second goal of the season to make it a two-goal lead for the visitors. Junior Anna Vesaturo (Pittsfield, Mass.) assisted from the top on the penalty corner. Bulis and Cody struck again with goals in the second half; Cody's 13th goal tied the score at 46:31.

Cenatiempo added her second goal of the game, and fifth of the season, less than three minutes later for the go-ahead score. Sydney McCarthy (Little Falls, N.Y.) finished the scoring at 66:15 with her team-leading sixth goal of the year.

Freshman Callie Flanagan (Wenham, Mass.) made 11 saves in the victory while Daly stopped two shots on goal.
