Summary
MIDDLETOWN, R.I. - The Western New England University field hockey team picked up its first win of the season with a 4-3 victory over Salve Regina University on Saturday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at Gaudet Field.

After Salve Regina (1-4, 0-2 CCC) had a 1-0 lead with Ashley Cody's (Pawling N.Y.) fifth goal of the season, Western New England (1-4, 1-1 CCC) had four successive scores - Haley Daigneault (Longmeadow, Mass.), Taylor Klesyk (Hamden, Conn.), Jacqueline Clark (Auburn, Mass.), and Megan Hueras (Charlton, Mass.) - for a 4-1 advantage.

Senior goalkeeper Dana Dufour (Gloucester, Mass.) made six saves in the cage to earn her first career victory.

Salve Regina freshman forward Eliza Timms (Agawam, Mass.) factored into all three of the Seahawks' goals, as she scored a pair herself and contributed an assist on the other. Senior Ally Daly (Peabody, Mass.) finished with six saves.

Series and Streaks
Salve Regina University leads Western New England, 14-10, after sweeping the season series last year. First, the Seahawks won 4-1 in Springfield, Mass., and then blanked the Golden Bears, 3-0, at Gaudet.

Salve Regina ends its five-game homestand and goes on the road for the first time in 2018 with a three-game road trip starting at Gordon College on Tuesday, September 18 (6 p.m.). Western New England hosts Endicott College on Tuesday in Springfield (7 p.m.).
