Summary
MIDDLETOWN, R.I. - Nichols College junior midfielder Erin Kelley (Palmer, Mass.) scored two goals and assisted on another to lead the Bison to a 6-3 victory in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) field hockey against Salve Regina University at Gaudet Field.

Series and Streaks
Salve Regina leads Nichols, 20-17, in the all-time field hockey series; the Bison have won the last two meetings by a combined 10-6 score.

  1. Nichols junior Erin Kelley (Palmer, Mass.) scored her first two goals of the season, and assisted on another.
  2. Nichols senior Courteney White (Orange, Mass.) got the scoring started when she converted a penalty stroke in the third minute of the game.
  3. Salve Regina sophomore Tori Bickel (Harleysville, Pa.) scored her first two goals of the season, tying the game at 2-2 in the 26th minute.

Turning Point
The Bison responded to Bickel's game-tying goal in a flash, 13 seconds later Lizz McKinnon (Pembroke, Mass.) returned the lead (3-2) to Nichols. The Bison scored four straight goals before freshman Eliza Timms (Agawam, Mass.) netted her second goal of the season for the 6-3 final.

Key Stat of the Game
The teams combined for 13 penalty corners in the first half (Nichols-7, Salve Regina-6), but with a thick fog enveloping Gaudet Field in the second half, only one penalty corner was awarded (Salve Regina).
