MIDDLETOWN, R.I. - The Salve Regina University field hockey team will participate in its annual 'Play 4 the Cure' campaign when the team hosts Endicott College on Saturday, October 15 at Gaudet Field (5 p.m.).

Seahawk players will be wearing pink jerseys pre-game, and will be handing out pink bracelets to their opponents during pre-game announcements. The Salve Regina field hockey team hopes to draw awareness to cancer research and raise funds to find a cure through this special game.

The Seahawks have established a secure online donation site with the National Foundation for Cancer Research. Donations collected throughout the contest will benefit the the National Foundation for Cancer Research.

October is the height of the field hockey playing season in the United States and is the official Breast Cancer Awareness Month of the National Susan G. Komen Foundation.

"Annually we look forward to bringing attention to this worthy cause," said Seahawk head coach Jennifer Foster. "Our hopes are that friends, family members and fans of Salve Regina field hockey will come out Saturday and support our team's efforts."

Salve Regina field hockey (7-5; 3-4 CCC) won a thrilling 4-3 overtime game at Roger Williams last Friday afternoon.
