Cody commands Seahawk offense in 4-3 victory

NORTON, Mass. - Visiting Salve Regina handed the Wheaton College field hockey team an early deficit Tuesday night that they would not overcome, with the Lyons falling 4-3 to the Seahawks at Diane C. Nordin '80 Field.

The Seahawks (3-1) Amber Cody was an attacking force, scoring back-to-back goals in the first half to hand Salve Regina a 2-0 lead. Cody's first goal came on a breakaway in the 13th minute, before the sophomores goal off a deflection in the 20th minute. 

Wheaton (2-3) got on the board in the 28th minute thanks to a penalty stroke taken by senior captain Holly Norberg. 

Lindsey Venuto made it a 3-1 game six minutes into the second half with help from Brooke Tolley. 
The Lyons settled into the second half a few minutes later, generating several offensive chances. Darci Bruce made it a 3-2 game in the 47th minute with an assist from Jordan Brazis-Eberle.

Wheaton continued to push the pace, which resulted in a goal just two minutes later. This time Katie Peters found a crashing Kelsey Buckley who slipped the ball past two Salve Regina defenders and the keeper. 

With time running out Cody netted the game winning goal for the Seahawks, while completing her hat-trick, with a quick flick into the cage. 

Wheaton goalkeeper Riley Thompson came up with four saves, including a penalty stroke save in the 31st minute.
