SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Salve Regina University senior forward Lisa Bucci (Irvington, N.Y.) scored a career-high four goals as the Seahawk field hockey team defeated the Golden Bears of Western New England University, 8-4, in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action in Springfield.

Bucci scored twice in each half. Reigning CCC rookie of the week Jessica Scannapieco tied her career high with five points on two goals and an assist for the Golden Bears, who took a 1-0 lead in the sixth minute on Megan French's first career goal.

Alexisse Clinger scored just 31 seconds later to knot the score, igniting a three-goal spurt in a 3:51 span to put the Seahawks up 3-1 going into halftime. After Scannapieco scored at 37:17 to open the second half and close the deficit to 3-2, Clinger scored her third goal of the season giving the Seahawks a two-goal margin the rest of the way.

Tori Cirocco also scored for WNE, which outshot SRU 22 to 15 and also had a 13-11 edge in penalty corners. Julia Grover and Jessica Williams finished the scoring for Salve Regina, both assisted by Clinger.

Murphy McCann made eight saves to pick up the win. Freshman Jessica Hale got the start in the WNE cage and had six stops in her collegiate debut.
