Salve Regina earns 4th straight NFHCA award

NEWPORT, R.I. – The Salve Regina University field hockey team has been announced as a recipient of the 2011 Gladiator by SGI/Division III National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Academic Team Award, while seven Seahawk players were named to the 2011 NFHCA Academic Squad, including sophomore Alexa Bracco (Happauge, N.Y.), senior Samantha Dalton (Falmouth, Mass.), freshman Erin Demers (Concord, N.H.), freshman Jaclene Fleming (Dobbs Ferry, N.Y.), junior Emma St. Laurent (Seekonk, Mass.), sophomore Jessica Whittier (Scituate, Mass.), and freshman Jessica Williams (Franklin, Mass.). This marks the fourth consecutive year that the Salve Regina field hockey team has earned this honor.

NEWPORT, R.I. - The Salve Regina University field hockey team is sponsoring a clothing drive to raise donations for the Salvation Army from Monday, November 17 through Friday, December 9. Clothing is being collected outside of the fitness center on the first floor of the Rodgers Recreation Center and in the lobby of the O'Hare Academic Center.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - All six sponsoring institutions of field hockey from the Commonwealth Coast Conference were represented on the 2011 All-CCC Field Hockey Team, it was announced today by Commissioner Gregg M. Kaye.

MIDDLETOWN, R.I. – Sophomore forward Casey Clark (Bethlehem, N.H.) led the visiting Nor’easters with three goals and an assist as the University of New England field hockey team defeated Salve Regina University, 7-1, during a Nor’easter at Gaudet Field. It was the final regular season contest for both teams before the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) championships begin next week.

McCann made 12 saves on Tuesday and currently leads the CCC with 8.63 saves per game

The loss drops the Seahawks to 5-11 overall and 1-8 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC), while the Scots improve to 8-11 on the season and 3-6 during CCC play.

The loss drops the Seahawks to 5-10 overall and 1-7 in the conference, while the Bison improve to 8-6 on the season and 4-3 during CCC play.

BEVERLY, Mass. – In their penultimate home game of the 2011 regular season, the Endicott Gulls scored a 3-0 win over Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) foe Salve Regina at Endicott Stadium behind two goals from freshman Emily Sawchuck (Cumberland, Maine) and a solid second-half defensive effort. The Gulls improved their overall record to 7-8 and continues to sit at the top of the CCC table with a 6-1 record, tied with University of New England.

MIDDLETOWN, R.I. - The Salve Regina University field hockey team received five second half goals from five different players to defeat Western New England University by a score of 5-1 during a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) match up at Gaudet Field on Sunday night. The win improves the Seahawks to 5-8 overall and 1-5 in the conference, while the Golden Bears drop to 4-12 on the season, including a 2-4 mark during CCC play.

(Oct. 11) – Nichols College first-year forward Avery Orszulak (Springfield, Mass.) recorded her first career hat trick and assisted on a fourth goal to lead the Bison to a 5-2 victory over visiting Salve Regina in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) field hockey game at Vendetti Field Tuesday evening. Nichols snaps a four-game skid with the win and improves to 6-6 overall and 2-3 in conference games. Salve Regina dips to 4-8 overall and 0-5 in league play.
