FALL RIVER, MASS. - Last Saturday several members of the Salve Regina football team put their dodgeball skills to a good use as they traveled to Fall River, Mass. to participate in third annual "Dodgeballin' for Kids" fundraiser. Participants raise money for many local youth charities, and this year in particular, money raised went to help children of the Boston Marathon tragedy.

NEWPORT, R.I. - For the second year in a row, the Salve Regina football team is leading the charge in helping to find bone marrow donors through "Be the Match" and the National Bone Marrow Donors Program. Teaming up with Rhode Island Blood Center, the Seahawks are hosting a registry drive on May 2 at Rodgers Recreation Center.

NEWPORT, R.I. – The Salve Regina University student-athletes came out in full force last Saturday, April 13, to wrap up national Division III week as athletes from all of the university’s teams not in competition volunteered at Special Olympics held at Gaudet Field in partnership with Special Olympics R.I., East Bay Games.

NEWPORT, R.I. – Head Coach Kevin Gilmartin has announced the hiring of three new coaches to the Salve Regina football staff. Jack Cooper, Michael Moffitt and Rob Shedlosky will join the coaching staff for the 2013 season.

NEWPORT, R.I. - Head Coach Kevin Gilmartin has announced the hiring of Casey Goff to join the Salve Regina football program as the team’s new defensive coordinator and the promotion of Michael Weick to the full time linebackers and special teams coach, as well as the recruiting coordinator.

Salve Regina is represented by 24 student-athletes on the New England Football Conference Academic All-Conference team.

NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina sophomore Phil Terio (Trumbull, Conn.) has been announced as a member of the 2012 D3football.com All-America Team at two positions. Terio was named to the third team as a corner back and fourth team as a return specialist.

NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina senior offensive lineman Daniel Kehew (Portsmouth, R.I.) has been selected to participate in the 2012 FCS Division Senior Scout Bowl presented by The Collegiate Development Football League (CDFL). The third annual North v. South Senior Scout Bowl will be played on Saturday, December 15 at Doug Shaw Stadium (5 p.m.) in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina sophomore corner Phil Terio has been announced as a member of the 2012 Beyond Sports Network (BSN) D3 All-America Team. Terio was named to the Second Team and was one of just seven players from the New England Football Conference (NEFC) to earn a selection.

NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina senior Adam Iskra, junior Floyd Shafer, senior Maxwell Shubert, and sophomore Phil Terio have each been selected as members of the 2012 D3football.com All-East Region Team. Terio received a pair of honors, earning a spot on the First Team Defense as a cornerback, while also being selected to the Second Team Offense as a returner. Shafer and Iskra both earned spots on the Second Team Offense at center and tackle, respectively, while Shubert garnered the safety position on the Third Team Defense.

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. - The Salve Regina University football team held a 3-0 lead early, before eventually dropping a 28-16 decision versus Framingham State in the New England Football Conference (NEFC) Championship game at Bowditch Field on Saturday afternoon. The Seahawks fall to 9-2 overall, sitting just one victory shy of the program's all-time record for wins in a season.

The Seahawks earned three major awards and 11 All-Boyd Division selections.

NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University football travels to Framingham, Mass., on Saturday to play the Framingham State University Rams in the 2012 New England Football Conference (NEFC) Championship Game at 1 p.m. at Framingham’s Bowditch Field.

Seahawks take division title on Senior Day, 45-7

NEWPORT, R.I. - Senior Maxwell Shubert (West Chester, Pa.) intercepted a pass on the opening play from scrimmage and returned it 36 yards for a touchdown, setting the tone for a 45-7 victory by Salve Regina over Nichols College on Senior Day during the Seahawks' New England Football Conference (NEFC) regular season finale at Gaudet Field on Saturday. With the win, the Seahawks capture their first NEFC Boyd Division title since the 2000 campaign, improving to 9-1 overall, including a 6-1 mark during division play. They now advance to face Framingham State on the road next Saturday in the NEFC Championship game. The Bison close out their season with a 1-9 record, falling to 1-6 in the Boyd Division.
