NEWPORT, R.I. (August 6, 2019) -- Salve Regina University director of athletics Jody Mooradian announces the hiring of Chelsea Francis (Bristol, R.I.) as the school's head coach for equestrian.

"We will be riding out of Sandy Point Stables," says Mooradian, who added, "(Chelsea) is an equestrian trainer with extensive experience. She has been at Sandy Point for over three years. She will be a strong coach for the program. Her experience and skill are tremendous."

The Seahawks begin their 2019-20 campaign next month (September 23) and will train/show for eight weeks in the fall and another eight weeks in the spring.

Francis' tasks at Sandy Point (Portsmouth, R.I.) include daily management of 30 horses, from riding schedule to injury rehabilitation, arranging horse show travel and coordinating show schedule, including hotel bookings, transportation of horses and packing all essentials for all shows.

"I have passion and enthusiasm for understanding horse behavior and training horses and riders of all skill levels," says Francis. "I love being able to share my passion for horses and riding with others."
