PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (March 7, 2020) - Salve Regina University senior lefty Patrick Maybach (Saunderstown, R.I.) struck out a dozen Knights in six innings as the Seahawks completed a sweep of its pair of games at Hank DeVincent Field on the campus of La Salle University -- 10-7 over Oswego and 11-5 against host Arcadia University. Salve Regina improves to 3-0 on the season, averaging over 11 runs scored per game. Junior righty Michael Mathews (West Hartford, Conn.) was the winner in his start against the Lakers in today's opener.

GAME ONE
In the opener, Salve Regina never finished an at bat without a three-run lead. Junior shortstop Madden Ward (Clinton, Conn.) tripled down the right-field line to lead off the game. Senior catcher Dylan Ketch (Clinton, Conn.) followed with an RBI double to right field and then he came home on freshman first baseman Tyler Cannoe's (Schenectady, N.Y.) triple to center field. Sophomore Sean O'Malley (Darien, Conn.) grounded to third base for an early 3-0 lead.

A double steal with two outs in the bottom of the 3rd put the Lakers on the board.

Salve Regina got the run back in the top of the 4th with Zach Barlok (Cheshire, Conn.) doubling in Justice Welch (Hackensack, N.J.). Ketch led off the 5th with a home run. Cannoe singled and Anthony Cieszko (Woodcliff Lake, N.J.) later walked to chase the Laker starter out of the game. Welch greeted the new reliever with a two-run double down the left field line.

A balk and a wild pitch brought two more runs in the 7th inning for the Seahawks. Ward delivered a two-out single up the middle to score Michael DeFusco (East Greenwich, R.I.) after the junior outfielder had tripled.

In the bottom of the 9th, Andrew Roman (Monson, Mass.) got the final two outs including strike-three swinging for the save.

GAME TWO
The last (and first) time Salve Regina played Arcadia in baseball, then senior Cory Poplawski '17 (Syracuse, N.Y.) walked off the mound in Harwich, Mass., with a complete-game, nine-inning shutout, 5-0, in the elimination round of the NCAA Division III Baseball Championships. Today, ace lefthander Patrick Maybach (Saunderstown, R.I.) went six innings with 12 Ks, and now has not allowed an earned run in his first 11 innings of work in 2020.

After Ketch's RBI single in the first frame, the Knights plated a pair of unearned runs in the bottom of the 1st inning. Dustin Siqueira (Trumbull, Conn.) and Ward led off the 3rd with successive singles and both scored on a single by Ketch. Cannoe doubled, Matt D'Amato (Midland Park, N.J.) singled, and DeFusco drove in the fourth run of the 3rd with a single.

Salve Regina capitalized on Arcadia miscues in the 4th and scored five times (four unearned) to increase its lead to 10-2.

Between the 1st and 6th innings, Maybach retired 14 straight Knights' batters.
