Sherman Hoyt Trophy

Summary

Saturday, September 22:

A beautiful day with temps in the 60's and some sunshine. Big shifts and velocity changes throughout the day with the wind going back and forth between the northwest and northeast at 5-15 knots. All courses were windward/leewards with A-division in FJs and B-division in Z420s. 10 races were sailed in each division by 6pm. 3 protests were filed resulting in DSQ's for Brown Bears One in A-division and Tufts B-division. Z420 #7 was removed from the rotation after the traveler broke in half. Very tight racing!

Sunday, September 23:

Competitors arrived to a rapidly dying northerly on day two of the Sherman Hoyt Trophy. Only 1 race was sailed in each division in a 3-5 knot northeasterly to begin the day before the wind died. Postponed on shore at 11:15am and abandoned for the day at 1:50. A huge thanks to Dan Rabin for being the PRO, Luke Adams (Brown '15) for judging and helping out, Chris Crane for judging, and the many Brown sailors who helped out. Thanks as well to David Thompson (Dartmouth) for hearing a protest and Brian Swingly (Coast Guard) for being the NEISA Rep. Congrats to Harvard on dominant win!

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
