Name: Sydney DeCesare
Hometown: Johnston, R.I.
Sport: Cross Country
Concentration: Administration of Justice
Accolades
Salve Regina women's cross country Rookie of the Year (2017), Most Improved Runner (2018), captain both junior and senior year (2019 & 2020), Chi Alpha Sigma, CCC All-Academic
Accomplishment you are most proud of
Running as the number four spot in the Commonwealth Coast Conference Race my freshman year (2017) and breaking my personal record for the 6k in Regionals with a time of 24:46. Also, maintaining a scoring spot in all three CCC Races I've competed in along with Regionals.
Favorite activity outside of your sport
I love to run, walk, bike, basically anything outdoors or that involves activity.
Favorite experience as a Salve Regina student-athlete
Having my running picture put up on a banner outside of Rodgers Recreation Center and inside Miley Lobby hanging on the wall by the printers.
Favorite spot on campus
Rodgers Recreation Center or Ochre Point
Most memorable game/contest/match
Probably freshman year when I scored fourth overall on the team to score in the CCC race and last season's CCC race when I PR'd and also scored to help Salve's team place. Those two races were probably the ones I felt the most accomplished or proud of after finishing for my team.
One thing most people don't know about me
I have never broken a bone in my body, I went skydiving in Newport during pre-season (2018), I have Raynaud's so my fingers and toes casually turn white and lose circulation when I get too cold.
Plans after graduation
I am graduating early in December 2020 with a degree in Administration of Justice. I will be starting the fifth year program at Salve in spring 2021 in Homeland Security with a concentration in Cybersecurity. After this I hope to find a career with any aspect of the federal government.
Something you can't live without
Overall my family and friends, any type of pasta, and my stuffed animal puppy.
The best part of being on your team is
Being surrounded by the best teammates and coaches, pushing each other to get better, making life long friendships.
