CCC Rookie of the Week: Cianna Lynch

NEWPORT, R.I. - The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) has selected Salve Regina University freshman Cianna Lynch (Cranston, R.I.) as its rookie of the week for women's cross country (September 26 - October 2).

Rookie of the Week - Lynch helped the Seahawks win the team title at the Tri-State Invitational in Lincoln, R.I. Lynch finished second in the field of 68, completing the 5,080-meter course in 20:52.64 and running in the No. 2 spot for Salve Regina for the second consecutive meet.

"Cianna continues to impress as she carves out a role as one of our varsity regulars," said head coach Rob McGuinness. "She paced herself well relative to Victoria Varone, who held the overall lead, and she held steady throughout the race. I was encouraged to see Cianna less concerned with the clock and more focused on maintaining her intensity."

The Seahawks return to action at the Connecticut College Invitational in Waterford, Conn., on Saturday, Oct. 15.
