CCC Runner of the Week: Victoria Varone

NEWPORT, R.I. - The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) has selected Salve Regina University senior Victoria Varone (Providence, R.I.) as its Runner of the Week for women's cross country (August 29 - September 4).

Runner of the Week - Varone led Salve Regina to a second-place finish at the Roger Williams Invitational. She ran 19:25 over the 5K course and finished third overall in a field of 126. She was her team's top finisher as the Seahawks scored 59 points.

"Victoria ran an outstanding race on Saturday," said head coach Rob McGuinness. "She was poised and confident in running with the lead pack, and she made it very clear that she was there to compete. I am encouraged to see her racing so well at this point in the season."

The Seahawks run at UMass Dartmouth on Saturday, September 17 (noon).
