Women's Cross Country #3 - New direction, same result: Seahawks take title at New England College (August 29, 2014)
NEWPORT, R.I. - The course may have been reversed, but the outcome was the same for the second year in a row. Salve Regina posted a 1-2-3 finish to claim its second consecutive win at the Mayflower Kickoff at New England College on August 29.
Sophomore Amy Irving (Bohemia, N.Y.) won the individual race for the second time, crossing the finish line at 20:00. Teammates Aubrey Palmquist (Bristol, Conn.) and Victoria Varone(Providence, R.I.) were not far behind, finishing at 20:10 and 20:14.
Freshman Olivia Wilson (Bethel, Conn.) and junior Rachel Gedansky (Tolland, Conn.) rounded out the scoring as the Seahawks took the team title with 24 points. Colby-Sawyer College finished second with 50 points, and Gordon College was third with 97.
