AVCA Team Academic Award for Seahawks

LEXINGTON, Ky. (July 22, 2019) -- The Salve Regina University women's volleyball team was named by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) on Monday for the 2018-19 AVCA Team Academic Award.

The Seahawks compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.366 for this past academic year and are one of two Commonwealth Coast Conference schools among the 175 NCAA Division III schools recognized by the AVCA for academic excellence. A record 1,142 teams across the nation in the college, high school and beach volleyball ranks earned the honor.

Five Salve Regina women's volleyball student-athletes were named Academic All-Conference selections last January for cumulative GPAs over 3.30 through the fall semester, including the CCC Scholar Athlete of the Year, Kendall Wilcox.

To be recognized for the AVCA Team Academic Award, a program must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.30 on a 4.00 scale during the current academic year.
