NEWPORT, R.I. - The Salve Regina University women's volleyball team hosts Gordon College in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) matchup.

LAST TIME OUT
Salve Regina University suffered it's first conference loss of the season in a five-set match with Wentworth. The Seahawks had three players with double digit kills, led by Cassidy Trabilcy who posted season-highs with 15 kills and 21 digs. Freshman Nicole Karabaich also posted a double-double with 14 kills and 20 digs and setter Erin Proctor collected a season-high 44 assists on the night as well.

SEAHAWKS NOTES FROM THE NEST

  • Seniors Cassidy Trabilcy and Megan Parham alongside junior Annie Donahue will serve as captains for the 2018 season.
  • Head coach Lauren Parsons enters seventh season leading the Seahawks. The team has made the playoffs in each of the six previous seasons including two conference championship matches. 
  • Annie Donahue leads the Seahawks with 132 kills and 34 blocks while Erin Proctor paces the squad with 359 assists and Katie Linekin hold down the defense with 138 digs.

ABOUT THE SCOTS

  • The Scots dropped their CCC opener as well, a 3-0 loss to Roger Williams.
  • Amanda Sndyer finished the match with 12 kills, eight digs, and two aces. Mackenzie Hinds recorded ten digs and nine kills. Ashlyn Gergins recorded a double-double with 30 assists and a team-high 13 digs. Jenny Curtiss tallied double-digit digs for the fifth match in row.
  • Hinds has now recorded at least 100 kills and 100 digs in four consecutive seasons.
  • Synder leads the team in kills (153), Marla Batson leads in blocks (23), while Gergins ignites the offense with 419 assists, and Curtiss anchors the defense with 181 digs.

INSIDE THE SERIES
The Scots won the first eight meetings from 2002 to 2008, then the Seahawks won nine in a row until last season when the Scots defeated the Seahawks 3-1 in Wenham, Mass.
