Three Stars of the Day
1 – Salve Regina junior Annie Donahue (Chelmsford, Mass.) recorded 23 kills on the day with a .487 swing percentage.
2 – Rhode Island junior Jacqueline Jutras (Foster, R.I.) logged 72 assists, tops between all three teams on the day.
3 – Framingham senior Mackenzie Whalen (Norton, Mass.) led the Rams offense by handing out 46 assists on the day.

Key Stat of the Day
Collectively the Seahawks swung at a .245 clip as a team on the day, nearly 66% better than the Anchormen who swung at a .161 percentage. The Rams hit for a .004 percentage overall, having nearly as many error (49) as kills (50).

Turning Points

In the first match the Seahawks led 1-0 and battled into extras in the second set. The Seahawks had four chances at set-point, but the Anchormen kept rallying to tie the score. Finally a kill from Annie Donahue and an attacking error gave the Seahawks a 28-26 set victory. The Seahawks trailed early in the third set but outscored the Anchormen 23-12 to complete the sweep.

In the second match a 19-5 run by the Anchormen gave them a fourth set victory to top the Rams 3-1. Senior libero Marisa Brynes (Cranston, R.I.) posted 30 digs in the match, the most by an individual in any match during the day, to lead the Anchormen defense. 

In the final match Salve Regina took  control in every set of the sweep, never allowing the Rams to reach the 20-point threshold. The second set was tied 11-11, but the Seahawks quickly pulled away thanks to 5-0, helped by two service aces from Madison Lee (Dover, Fla.) who had six in the match. The Seahawks never trailed in the third and final set to complete the sweep of the Rams, and of the day on the whole.

Rhode Island College (5-4) travels to face Anna Maria on September 18, at 7 p.m. while Framingham State (5-5) hits the road for a MASCAC matchup with Fitchburg State at 5 p.m., on September 18.
