The Salve Regina University women's volleyball team won their seventh straight match Wednesday night with a 3-0 (25-12, 25-14, 25-14) sweep over visiting Western New England University in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action.

  2. Salve Regina senior Samantha Salwa (Ellington, Conn.) had a match-high 27 assists while chipping in 12 digs, two kills, and two aces.
  3. Salve Regina freshman Kathryn Linekin (Ridgefield, Conn.) had a match-high 21 digs.

The Seahawks trailed 9-8 in the second the Seahawks used three long scoring runs to run away with the set. After back-to-back scores for the Golden Bears drew them within five, 17-12, they committed six straight errors, gifting the Seahawks a 23-12 lead. A kill from Emmaline Chiodini (St. Louis, Mo.) and error by Casssidy Trabilcy delivered two points back to the visitors, but Trabilcy would combine with teammate Andee Bender (Lebanon, Conn.) for kills to close out the set and give the Seahawks a 2-0 match lead.

  • Chiodini paced the Golden Bears with seven kills, while Brianna Roath (Jackson, N.J.) had a team-high 19 digs. Jenna McCormack (Nashua, N.H.) contributed 11 assists.
