Salve Regina women's volleyball part of record-breaking AVCA academic honorees

NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University women's volleyball head coach Lauren Parsons has announced her team earned recognition from the American Volleyball Coaches Association with the AVCA Team Academic Award for the 2017-2018 season.

The first-ever McAuley Cup was given in honor of Catherine McAuley, founder of the Sisters of Mercy - who founded Salve Regina, to the 2017-18 Salve Regina men's ice hockey team.

NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University director of athletics Jody Mooradian bestowed dozens of awards to student-athletes and staff on Friday evening, including the department's female and male athletes of the year - senior Amber Cody (Pawling, N.Y.) of field hockey, and junior Blake Wojtala (Trenton, Mich.) of men's ice hockey.

NEWPORT, R.I. – Salve Regina University has landed 54 student-athletes on the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) 2017 Fall Academic All-Conference Team, announced by Commissioner Gregg M. Kaye.

Salve Regina student athletes collected more than a quarter of the total donations during a conference-wide food drive.

BEVERLY, Mass. – Behind a match-high 17 kills from Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Player of the Year Emma Mancini (Lynnfield, Mass.), the second-seeded Endicott women's volleyball team defeated No. 3 Salve Regina, 3-0, in the semifinal round of the CCC Tournament on Thursday night at MacDonald Gymnasium. Set scores for the match were 25-21, 25-22, 25-17.

NEWPORT, R.I. - The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women's volleyball head coaches have selected three Seahawks to the 2017 All-CCC squad - seniors Samantha Higgins (Coventry, R.I.) and Samantha Salwa (Ellington, Conn.), and sophomore Annie Donahue (Chelmsford, Mass.) - as announced by Commissioner Gregg Kaye on Monday.

The Seahawks host the No. 6 seed Nor'easters from Biddeford, Maine, on Tuesday, October 31 (7 p.m.) in a CCC quarterfinal.

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Salve Regina University women's volleyball team had its 10-match winning streak halted by Clark University in a 3-1 decision Thursday night in a non-conference matchup.

MILTON, Mass. – The Salve Regina University women's volleyball team took a 3-0 decision over Curry College on Tuesday night in a conference matchup at the Katz Gymnasium. The win moves the Seahawks to 15-10 overall and 5-3 in conference play, while the Colonels fall to 11-15 and 2-6 in conference play.
