Three Seahawks compete in NEWVA Senior Classic

NEWPORT, R.I. - Three seniors from the Salve Regina University women's volleyball team have been selected to the 2014 New England Women's Volleyball Association (NEWVA) Senior Classic hosted by UMass Boston on Sunday. 

Outside hitter Jennifer Duggan (Merrimack, N.H.), libero and co-captain Dianna Tauro (Melrose, Mass.), and setter Taylor Violet (Tiverton, R.I.) were among among eight Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) athletes selected to the event. It is the second straight year Salve Regina has been represented in the classic. Last year, Clare Adams represented the Seahawks. 

Duggan finishes her career at Salve Regina as the only player in program history to reach both the 1,000-career kill and dig milestones. She ranks first in program history with 1,237 kills and fifth with 1,218 digs. She had a career best 346 kills in 2014.

Tauro posted a career best 491 digs in 2014. Tauro also became one of just six players in program history to break the 1,000-career dig milestone. She finishes her Seahawks career ranked third in program history with 1,340 digs.

Violet ends her Salve Regina career as the programs all-time leader in assists (3,467), a record she broke in her sophomore year. She posted 980 assists in 2014 as well as 62 service aces. Violet ranks first all-time in program history with 170 aces.
