BRISTOL, R.I. – The Salve Regina women's volleyball team is now 5-4 after dropping a match 3-1 to Colby-Sawyer in day two of the Ocean State Classic.

The Seahawks dropped the first two sets 25-22 and 25-21. They battled back to win the third set 25-17, but could not force a fifth and deciding set, losing 25-21 in the fourth.

Salve Regina was led by Taylor Violet (Tiverton, R.I.) who had a match high 41 assists to go along with two service aces, and 11 digs. Jennifer Duggan (Merrimack, N.H.) led the Seahawks in kills with 13, along with 18 digs. Erin McGloin (West Islip, N.Y.) tallied four kills, three aces, and a block. Finally Diana Tauro (Melrose, Mass.) recorded two kills, an assist, an ace, 21 digs, and was named to the All-Tournament team.

For Colby-Sawyer, Laura Smolinski (Hebron, Conn.) led the way with 38 assists, three aces, five kills, and 16 digs. Leah Drolet (Riverside, R.I.) recorded six kills, two digs, and match-high four blocks. The Chargers were led in kills by Stehpanie Vecchio (Shelter Island, N.Y.) and Jackie Keating (Marshfield, Mass.) who both tallied 11 kills.

The Seahawks next travel to face Eastern Connecticut State on September 16, before returning home to face UMass Boston at 7 p.m. on September 17.
